Hours: These roles will be offered on a Zero Hour contract working as and when required.

Responsible to: BSU Activities Team

Start date: September 2026

Role

These roles are only open to students studying at University of Brighton. The BSU Activities Team run a number of activities to engage students in the University and in the wider University experience. We do this because students that take part in our programmes are more likely to succeed on their course and have a better student experience while doing it. As part of this programme, we run student media, including a magazine and radio station.

The successful candidate will work with students and Activities team to help with the running of the radio station and the student magazine by undertaking the tasks below.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Scheduling shows on the radio station

• Helping student DJ’s record shows and get set up

• Support with new DJ inductions

• Reviewing the shows to ensure there is a good mix of shows on air throughout the week

• Edit articles and content for the magazine, including selecting and proofreading

• Support with sourcing articles and promoting the magazine and radio station

• Work closely with the Activities and Events Coordinators to complete other related tasks as needed

Skills and Experience required

• Highly organised

• Demonstrable self-motivation

• IT competency in office programmes

• Have an interest in student media, e.g. journalism or radio broadcasting

• Experience with using recording or studio equipment would be desirable but full training will be given to the successful candidate

• An understanding of the opportunities available through the Students’ Union

Location

The Students’ Union covers all University of Brighton sites at Falmer, Moulsecoomb and City Campus. This role shall be primarily based at the Moulsecoomb Campus but travel to other campus locations may be required in the provision of the duties for the position.
